Abstract
Introduction to Finite Elements in Materials Science
Objective
After completion of this course, the student will be able to - Assemble and solve linear problems in structural mechanics and formulate equivalent energy expressions. - Gain an overview of energy functionals and derive the variational weak formulation. - Distinguish between linear finite elements and those of higher order. - Identify and explain the fundamental steps and workflows of the finite element method. - Use Mathematica to set up, solve, and analyze basic finite element problems.
